BOSTON -- David Ortiz went from gesturing up at an official scorer one at-bat earlier to pumping his fist toward his teammates after his game-tying homer. Three pitches later, he was hugging Mike Napoli at home plate after his teammates winning home run. Napoli and Ortiz hit consecutive homers with one out in the 10th inning and the Boston Red Sox rallied past Minnesota 2-1 Wednesday, sending the Twins to their fifth straight loss. "We havent been able to produce. Our pitching has been outstanding lately, but we havent been able to hit," Ortiz said. "To come back and win the game, that was big." Boston was held to one hit -- a fifth-inning double by Daniel Nava -- before the homers. The Twins took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 10th on Chris Parmelees two-out home run off Red Sox closer Koji Uehara (2-1). But after Dustin Pedroia flied out to begin the Boston 10th, the Red Sox connected against Casey Fien (3-4) to complete a three-game sweep. Twins closer Glen Perkins was unavailable with a sore back. Ortiz hit his drive down the right-field line and pumped his right fist toward the dugout as he headed toward first base. Napoli hit his shot into the centre-field bleachers. Three innings earlier, Ortiz felt like he had a hit taken away when he reached on what was ruled an error by official scorer Bob Ellis after the ball deflected off first baseman Joe Mauers glove in the seventh inning. When he walked off the field following Napolis double-play grounder, Ortiz was glaring and waving his arm up at the press box. "You hope they have your back at home and it never happens," Ortiz said. "Ive been here more than a decade and the scoring, its home, man. What do you want Mauer to do? He dove for the ball. He knocked it down." "I always look like Im the bad guy, but they always end up changing it. Its not that we need to check on Papi. Check on the scorer to see what hes doing wrong," he said. Earlier this year, Major League Baseball changed a scorers ruling and later gave Ortiz a single in a game in which Yu Darvish had a no-hit bid for Texas. Parmelee also had two singles as Minnesota finished a 3-6 road trip. "Were glad were going home," Parmelee said. "Its kind of tough end to the long road trip, but were headed home and were excited to get back home." Uehara had a scoreless streak snapped at 21 2/3 innings when Parmelee homered into the Red Sox bullpen over the leap of right fielder Brock Holt. "Unfortunately, one extra split to Parmelee gives them the upper hand, but a dramatic finish on our part," Boston manager John Farrell said. "David comes up big once again." Like the previous two games of the series, both one-run wins by Boston, neither team had much offence going. The Twins entered the day with seven combined hits and one run in the first two games and Boston scored just three total runs. The Red Sox were on the verge of being shut out until the improbable ending. "Its the worst feeling in the world," Fien said. "When youve got a pitching staff that threw like that and then they ask me to come up big and do my part. You come out with the L. Its not a good feeling." Bostons John Lackey and Minnesotas Kyle Gibson kept up the trend with strong pitching performances. Lackey gave up three singles over nine innings, striking out nine and walking one. Hes allowed three or fewer runs in six straight starts, and 12th of 15 this season. Gibson pitched seven shutout innings for the third consecutive start, allowing only Navas double, while striking out eight without walking anyone. Gibson retired the first 14 batters before Nava lined a double near the base of the right-field wall that bounced in Bostons bullpen for a ground-rule double. Pedroia had his streak of reaching in every career start against the Twins snapped at 30 after he went 0 for 4. NOTES: Red Sox starters held an opponent to three runs or fewer for the 12th consecutive home game. ... A day after designating him for assignment, the Red Sox released struggling OF Grady Sizemore from the roster. ... Red Sox pitcher Brandon Workman lost an appeal of his six-game suspension for throwing near the head of Tampa Bays Evan Longoria on May 30, and the right-hander began serving it Wednesday. ... RHP Yohan Pino makes his major league debut, facing Chicagos Jose Quintana (3-7, 3.98 ERA) Thursday as the Twins open a four- game series at home against the White Sox. ... Jake Peavy (1-4, 4.53 ERA) goes for Boston Thursday against Oaklands Scott Kazmir (8-2, 2.05) as the Red Sox begin a 10-game road trip. Nelson Cruz Jersey . It was a day that saw England slump off a World Cup field once again battered and bruised. This time there was no red card to wonder about, no goalkeeping error or individual mistake. They were thoroughly beaten by something they have nothing of – genuine world class ability. Hisashi Iwakuma Jersey . Blackhawks RW Patrick Kane came up big when it counted, tallying two goals and an assist. He scored the game-winner with 4:45 remaining in the third period, stopping on the right hashmarks, carrying the puck up through the top of the Kings zone, then firing a wrist shot from the top of the circles past Jonathan Quick, who had his view obstructed by Andrew Shaw. http://www.marinersrookiestore.com/. Called on from the college ranks to replace Andy Reid, Kelly implemented a whole new atmosphere in the City of Brotherly Love and now has the Eagles in the playoffs for the first time since 2010. Dee Gordon Jersey . -- The Chicago Bears say they have agreed to a one-year contract with centre Roberto Garza. Edwin Diaz Jersey . -- Alex Anthopoulos spoke volumes with what he didnt say on right-hander Ervin Santana.ST. LOUIS -- Just like the last two postseasons, Jonathan Quick had the St. Louis Blues number all night. "He was good," St. Louis forward T.J. Oshie said. "It seems like hes always good." In addition to air-tight goaltending, the Los Angeles Kings also got something unexpected. Trevor Lewis scored his first two goals of the season early in the third period to key a 4-1 victory on Thursday night. "We have developed a little bit of a rivalry over the last couple years," Quick said. "But at the end of the day it counts as two points. "You dont get extra points because its St. Louis." Jake Muzzin scored in the first period and Jeff Carter added an empty-netter for the Kings, who snapped a five-game road losing streak in the opener of a five-game trip. Quick had 28 saves as Los Angeles improved to 16-4 in their last 20 meetings with St. Louis, including a pair of playoff series wins the last two seasons. In 2012, the Kings swept the Blues in the second round en route to the franchises first Stanley Cup and they took four straight after spotting St. Louis two wins in the first round last spring. "They were much better than us," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. "Depends on what we do with it. Im kind of getting sick of watching it." Oshie scored his first career goal on a penalty shot in the second period for the Blues, who snapped a five-game home winning streak. Oshie has 11 goals on the season and has five goals and four assists in his last six home games. The Blues dropped to 18-4-2 at home and lost for just the second time in 10 games. Lewis scored the tiebreaker at 2:04 of the third, just 4 seconds after the Blues killed off Ryan Reaves roughing penalty resulting from a large scrum at the end of the second. Lewis shot from the right boards was stopped by Halak but the rebound deflected into the net off the skate of Blues forward Jaden Schwartz. Lewis then got his second goal of the season on a short-handed wraparound at 4:21, capitalizing on goalie Jaroslav Halaks stick-handling goof to make it 3-1.dddddddddddd Halak couldnt get the puck away from the boards, then didnt want to play it inside the trapezoid for fear of a two-minute penalty and also thought a defenceman had the net covered. "Ill take the blame for this one," Halak said. "We lost because of me." Lewis was the Kings first-round pick in 2006 but entered with one assist in 38 games and had only five goals last season, the last March 28 at St. Louis. He got multiple points for the first time since March 16 when he had two assists against the Sharks. "He does all the details within our game, within our system," linemate Jarret Stoll said. "A lot of stuff doesnt get noticed when youre writing articles or seeing us on TV. "Hes a great teammate so its good to see him get rewarded." Oshie has been the Blues best in shootouts, going 4 for 6 this season with a variety of jukes and changes of speed. After getting pulled down by Muzzin on a breakaway, Oshie dispensed with the fakery and drilled a shot between Quicks pads to tie it at 1 at 5:55 of the second. "I think the last time I went in on him I deked to my forehand," Oshie said. "I was hoping he was expecting me to do another deke or something fancy and fortunately I squeaked it between his legs." Oshies 11th of the season also gave him the Blues last three goals. The Kings scored on their first shot with Muzzin getting his third of the season past a well-screened Halak at 2:31, and carried play most of the first period. Justin Williams hit the goal post on a power play just past the mid-point. NOTES: The Blues are 2 for 2 on penalty shots this season, with Alexander Steen connecting against Florida on Oct. 5 and have made their last four overall. ... Muzzin was scoreless and minus-2 the previous 14 games. ... Oshie has five goals and four assists his last six games at home. ... The game drew standing room attendance of 19,374.
